You’ve probably heard in the news lately that McDonald’s franchises are tanking all over the world. What was once the leading fast food chain is now a bit of a laughing stock in the burger community. And when you see 15 of their biggest food fails you’ll understand why this food giant has maybe seen the last of its glory days. Some of these ideas are so ludicrous and stupid it’s really a wonder why McDonalds didn’t fail spectacularly years ago. Get ready to laugh hard as you take a look at 15 of McDonald’s biggest food fails.

McSoup

Hmmm, that looks like corn kernels in some dirty water that has been ladled into a tiny paper cup. The soup was actually Campbell’s soup that they just put in their own cups. Why on earth would they think consumers would pay money for a tiny cup of soup they can buy at the store themselves?

Son Of Mac

So, someone at McDonald’s got this great idea for a new burger and they called it Son of Mac – catchy right? Well here’s what the burger was. It was a Big Mac, except it was smaller. And there wasn’t that slice of bun in the middle. And there was only one patty instead of two. So we guess you could say that Son of Mac was just, well, a hamburger? Though you won’t find any more in this country, word on the street is you can still find them in parts of Canada. Why?

McPizza

No, this is not a joke. The McPizza actually happened, and not just once, but a few times, even though each time it failed miserably. Here’s why pizza at McDonald’s is a bad idea, first of all, these pizzas took about 11 minutes to make – so, you know, not fast food. And second, the pizza boxes did not fit through the drive-thru window. Can you say, think ahead?

                                                         McJordan Special

If you ever wondered why Michael Jordan became a literal billionaire while other NBA players are simply doing okay or have even gone bankrupt – here’s why – he will put his name on anything that can make him some money. Not faulting him, just sayin’. This burger is just a regular burger which they threw on some BBQ sauce and bacon and, voila, it was the McJordan special.

Onion Nuggets

Hmmm, so let’s see, someone at McDonald’s sat down one day and thought, “How can we improve upon the onion ring? I know! Make it an onion chunk but call it a nugget. Brilliant.” Yeah, onion nuggets were just chopped up onions that were battered and deep friend. That’s it. And now they are gone.

McSalad Shakers

Anytime a company makes you do work in order to eat and charges you for it, beware. The idea was you get your salad in a plastic cup, you pour your dressing over, put the lid on (a critical step) and give your salad a good shake – hence the name. Why they thought this concept would take off is a mystery.

Fajitas & Burritos

www.rantfood.com
We have a rule with our fast food burger joints – just give us burgers and French fries, maybe some ice cream and call it a day. Not McDonald’s – they have attempted to do Mexican a few times in the past. They actually had the audacity to try to do Tortas in a few of their California stores. Anyway, they failed with the Fajitas, although again you can still find them in Canada. WTF?!

McSpaghetti

www.rantfood.com
This sounds like something that you would hear in a Saturday Night Live sketch, but nope, they actually tried to serve spaghetti. Actually, in some places in the country they even tested fettucine and lasagna. There are still places in this country (ha! In your face Canada!) where you can apparently find the McSpaghetti but we have no idea where that is. You’ll just have to get in the car, drive around, and ask.

Spanish Omelet Bagel

Now this one at first blush didn’t seem like such a bad idea to us. Certainly not as bad as the ones on the list so far, but then we remembered that, though their English muffins and biscuits are quite good, they can’t make a decent bagel to save their life. Plus their omelets are a joke, so, these failed.

Bacon Bacon McBacon

www.rantfood.com
Australia is a land that was brought into existence by hardened criminals, so is it any wonder that during the 90s, when the rest of the west was trying to get healthier, Australians were adding bacon to everything? But wait, not only did this burger have five slices of bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce, they also dipped the bun in pork drippings. Like they don’t have enough trouble with skin cancer down there. It was eventually pulled from the menu.
